G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S, yeah G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S! Is that precisely what you want your brand identity to project? Then business cards with hot foil stamping in gold or silver are just the thing. At printworld.com - your online print shop - you can find three unmistakable hot foils which can be used to give your business cards a distinctive flair.
"Foiled" or stamped? - This is the question. If you are looking to give your business cards a special touch, then opt for a finish. In addition to exclusive papers, UV or relief coating, there is a further decorative enhancement to help you make a stylish appearance when passing on contact details: The business card with hot foil stamping. But what exactly is stamped, how does the foil get on the paper and at what point does it get hot?
Hot foil stamping is a finishing process whereby a metallised foil is applied to specific areas of a printed surface. This results in shiny accents that no other finishing process can match.
In this finishing process, the transfer layer of a hot foil, also known as embossing foil, is applied to paper using pressure and heat by means of an embossing die or stamp made from brass or magnesium. Unlike relief embossing, this process does not cause any change on the reverse side of the substrate.
You take:
You follow the steps below:
Step 1: Load paper into the machine. Step 2: Clamp the cliché into the machine. Step 3: Insert the foil. Step 4: Heat the cliché. Step 5: Run the paper and the foil through the machine. Step 6: The foil is pressed onto the paper. The heat of the cliché behind it ensures that the film sticks to the paper.
At the end, you get a business card with your personalised hot foil motif.
The basic idea of partial hot foil stamping is to emphasise a part of the layout, i.e. images and/or text, in order to set accents and create striking effects. This means that only certain parts of the business card are foil stamped, not the entire surface of the card - hence the name "partial hot foil stamping".
Hot foil stamping can be done in many colours, with the shiny metallic version certainly the most popular. At printworld.com the business card with the hot foil can be ordered in three variations.
Hot foil stamped business cards have to be both seen and felt. Gold and silver are not only a great choice for Christmas, but are generally used to lend an air of luxury. Service providers who concentrate on especially high-value products can also benefit from finishing with gold or silver hot foil.
Motifs with holograms exploit the refraction of light to make your company logo shine in all the colours of the rainbow. This design is not just about looks. The "hot foil hologram" lends itself especially well to "copy protection", e.g. for admission tickets.
Hot foil can be used to add highly effective highlights. Special details such as company logo or graphic elements come to the fore and give your print product an unmistakable and classy appearance. Does your target group have high expectations? Then show off how your sense of style.
