Have MultiLoft Business Cards Printed Online - Here's Why?

Anyone who wants their business cards to distinguish them and help them stand out from the crowd these days usually achieves this with gloss, embossing, special colours or a combination of the above. But for some, modesty is key. So, if you want to stand out discreetly, then this business cards with a colour core are the perfect thing for you.

Thick, Sturdy - MultiLoft Business Cards. What Materials Are Business Cards with Colour Core Made From?

Multiloft Visitenkarten/Visitenkarten mit Farbkern aufgefächert

At 750g, the multi-layer business cards are pretty chunky. No surprise, after all these heavyweights are actually quite complex: A total of three layers of cardboard results in an extremely stable product. The two outer white layers enclose a coloured core, making this business card a discreet yet stylish eye-catcher.

There are three versions to choose from:

  • Black core
  • Red core
  • Turquoise core

Who Came Up with The Idea?

US manufacturer Convertible Solutions came up with the idea of these chunkers. Their solution is as simple as it is ingenious. True to the maxim "stronger united", the heavy-weight business cards are not made from ONE layer of material, but instead from several layers of paper, combined to form a single product. The production is very simple.

  1. Take two white sheets of paper with a basis weight of 240g. These are printed on one side, according to the selection: either only the front (4/0) or front and reverse (4/4) sides.
  2. Both sheets contain a contact adhesive. This is located on the back or inner surface, i.e. the side of the finished multi-layer business cards that faces inwards.
  3. The next important component is the coloured core, also known as the insert or inlay. This sheet with a grammage of 270g is coated with adhesive on both sides. Here nothing is printed, since the core comes between the two white outer sheets.
  4. The three layers of paper are placed on top of each other and then pressed together by the cutting machine's pressing bar.
  5. This activates the contact adhesive on the back of the outer layers as well as on the inlay and ensures that the individual layers are firmly bonded together.

So three become one and the multi-layer business card is finished.

MultiLoft, Multilayer or Business Cards with Colour Core. What Do You Call These Things?

You're not the only one to ask yourself this question, we do too. That's why we followed up and researched why there is such a multitude of names. First of all, let's get one thing straight, we're talking about the same product.

  1. MultiLoft business cards: "MultiLoft" is the name of the print product based on the process developed by Convertible Solutions to produce these particularly "substantial" business cards. At the same time, the papers used are also referred to as "MultiLoft".
  2. Multilayer Business Cards are exactly what the name suggests:
    1. Multi = Latin for "many"
    2. Layer = something lying over or under something else
Together, "multilayer" business cards are simply business cards with many layers. And now we've really reached the (colour) core of the matter.
  3. Business cards with colour core: This name emphasises the optical feature of the product. Tip: The colour core is not only an eye-catcher in itself. By colour-coordinating the layout and core, you can easily set visual accents.
  4. Sandwich business cards: There's no need to explain it in detail, everyone can picture it in their mind's eye: two soft or white layers on the outside, and an appetising - or coloured - filling in between.

What Do I Need to Bear in Mind When Creating the Print File for my MultiLoft Business Cards?

The classic white surface on the outside has the advantage that you don't have to pay too much attention when creating the print data, and can follow the same steps you would to design a classic business card. Please refer to the information in our data sheet. There is one for each of our products, and these can be found to the right of the calculation mask, directly below the product sheet.
