Leporello's list: The only remedy here is the zigzag fold.

The leaflet with "leporello" or concertina fold got its name from a character in Mozart's famous opera "Il dissoluto punito ossia Il Don Giovanni", or "Don Giovanni" for short. Don Giovanni's servant, Leporello, always kept a list of the women his master had seduced. At one point the list got so long that Leporello devised a clever way of folding. From then on he folded the list in concertina style. This meant that the names of all the women could be accommodated without any problems and the list was still quick and simple to store. This technique is also called zigzag folding or z-fold because of this way of pleating.

To produce a zigzag fold leaflet, a sheet of paper is folded parallel in alternating directions. This creates the distinctive zigzag pattern. Folding the sheet twice, for example, results in six printable pages (2-fold zigzag fold). Two pages are added with every subsequent fold. We go up to six folds (6-break zigzag fold), thus creating up to 14 freely designable pages.

Zigzag fold leaflets are useful for a lot more than just listing lovers' names. Zigzag folded flyers can be ordered in a total of 10 formats from 105 x 105 mm up to A4. You can of course also choose your own free format. This must not exceed a size (final format) of 210 x 297 mm (W x H). Materials

Besides the format, choosing the right paper is also a decisive factor for success. If you are looking to print a folded leaflet that is designed to encourage people to take it with them, we like to use a lightweight paper of 115g or 135g. If you want it to feel more classy, we recommend a heavier, higher quality paper. Whether in glossy or matt, on offset or coated art paper - concertina fold leaflets are available on a wide range of different papers in weights from 80g to 300g.

What Should Be Considered When Ordering Concertina Fold Leaflets?

To ensure that the final result always comes out the way you want it to, please follow the instructions in our data sheet or design template. It is best to always allow a bleed margin of 2 mm for elements that extend to the edge of the concertina folded flyer. All important content such as texts, logos and graphics should be positioned with a safety clearance of 5 mm from the edge in order to avoid falling prey to possible manufacturing tolerances.

You should pay particular attention to the page orientation and their correct arrangement in the print data - after all, the pages should not be upside down or ordered incorrectly.
