The grass fibres are produced using a purely mechanical process, without chemical treatment. As a result, their production generates up to 95% fewer CO2 emissions compared with virgin wood pulp. Furthermore, there is no need to use large quantities of water and chemicals to remove lignin, the natural binding agent, from the grass. This means that producing grass fibres requires up to 99% less water.

As grass paper is made from rapidly renewable grass fibres, often sourced regionally, it is a resource-efficient alternative to conventional paper.
