Wandkalender (Wire-O)
Wall calendar with Wire-O binding.

They are considered a true classic. Whether at work or at home, you can't avoid them. They are everywhere, and they catch our eye in several ways: First of all, they help us to find our way through the years, months, weeks and days; secondly, they bring pleasure to us with striking, funny or simply pleasant motifs. What are we talking about? The wall calendar.

At printworld.com - your online print shop for calendars – there are two versions available. The difference is in the binding. Choose between Wire-O binding and saddle stitching. Regardless of which version you choose, the wall calendar with its combination of pictures and the discreet but ever-present placement of your company logo will serve as an advertisement for twelve months. And your customers are bound to be happy if you thank them with a calendar at the end of the year.

Below we have compiled some information on both versions. Feel free to skip it if you already know which version is the right one for you or to read it if you are still unsure.

One Wall Calendar, Two Bindings.

Wandkalender mit Drahtheftung
Wall calendar with saddle stitch.

Let's cut straight to the main difference - the binding. First up, the saddle stitch version. This version uses two staples to hold the calendar together. The staples are placed from the outside through the back of the calendar. With Wire -O binding, holes are first punched at the upper edge, after which a wire spiral is pulled through. Why is it called "Wire-O"? Because the wire binding used to hold the pages of the calendar together form the shape of an O.

The type of binding determines how much space the calendar takes up on the wall. The saddle-stitched version opens like a booklet, meaning that two pages are always simultaneously on display: the calendar at the bottom and the picture at the top. The advantage of this version is more space for both. After a month, the lower page is flipped up and attached to the holder. Wall calendars with saddle stitching have a hole on the top sheet to allow the calendar to be hung on the wall.

The Wire-O bound version on the other hand relies on a "flip-over" binding. This is their characteristic feature: The individual pages can be flipped completely - i.e. by 360 degrees. This saves space, meaning that even the smallest room has space for a wall calendar.

And Even More Differences.

The two wall calendars do not just differ in terms of binding. Generally speaking, the saddle-stitched version offers fewer customisable options than the Wire-O binding.

The Magic Number is 2.
Two formats, two orientations, two colours, and two paper types - those are the customisable options for saddle stitch bound wall calendars. In more concrete terms this means the following:

The Space Saver in Many Forms.
What the Wire-O bound calendar saves in terms of space, it makes up for with its wealth of options. There are numerous combinations of print runs, formats, papers, etc., plus a few extras.

And now the promised "cherry on top":

(Almost) The Most Important Consideration for Wall Calendars Comes at the End.

You will find our fact sheet on the righthand side of each calculation page below the product image. There you will find general and product-specific instructions on how to correctly generate the print file. We, therefore, recommend that you take a close look at the fact sheet before each order. This is especially important in the case of calendars, where there are many factors to bear in mind, from the safety clearance required by the binding to the correct page orientation. If the information in the fact sheet is insufficient or if you still have further questions after referring to it, don't be afraid to get in touch. Our customer service team is available by phone or email to help you get rid of those question marks.
