Print Folded Leaflets With Gate Fold.

If you are looking to have gate fold leaflets printed, your online print shop is here to help. Whether you prefer closed or open gate fold flyers - we have put together a few facts below to help you with printing and design.

Gate Fold – It Didn't Get Its Name by Chance.

The gate fold flyer is not called so by accident. To produce this leaflet, the two outer sides are folded flush into the centre to cover the entire surface without overlapping. It, therefore, gives the reader the impression of opening a gate.

Since it bears a resemblance to opening shutters, it is also sometimes referred to as a "window fold".

What's the Difference Between the "Open" and "Closed" Gate Fold?

An altar fold flyer is folded 3 times after printing

The Open Gate Fold (Window Fold)

For leaflets with an open gate fold, otherwise known as window fold, the leaflet is only folded twice in total. The two outer sides are folded into the middle and are flush with the base without overlapping. Including the front and back this results in a total of six pages, all of which can be individually designed and printed.

The Closed Gate Fold

In addition to the open gate fold's two creases, folded flyers with a closed gate fold are then folded a third time in the middle. This results in an 8-page folded leaflet.

No matter which of the two options you go for, both can be used in many different ways. Since both leaflet designs must first be opened to read, artfully designed outer pages are essential to spike curiosity about what's inside. This makes them perfect for promotions or special invitations. Are you looking to get people interested in your product or invite customers, family and friends to a very special day? Then opt for a gate fold flyer!

Which Formats and Materials Can I Order?

Gate folded flyers are suitable for a wide variety of purposes. We offer a full range of formats from A6 to A4, to ensure your promotion always achieves the intended result. You can also order a completely custom final format for your folded leaflets, both with gate folded and window folded flyers.

Apart from the size of your folded leaflets, choosing the right paper is another key to success. If you are looking to print a folded leaflet designed to encourage people to take it home with them, we recommend using a light paper of 115g or 135g. By contrast a menu calls for a heavier, higher-quality material. Whether you need coated art papers in gloss or matt - there is a wide range of paper available for gate fold flyers ranging from 115g to 300g!

What Should Be Considered When Ordering Gate Fold Flyers?

To ensure that everything comes out the way you want to, please consult our data sheet or the design template for your chosen gate fold flyer. It is always best to allow a 2 mm bleed margin for elements that extend to the edge of your folded leaflets. Furthermore, all important content such as texts, logos and graphics should be positioned with a safety clearance of 5 mm from the edge in order to avoid falling prey to possible manufacturing tolerances.

Please also take a look at the notes in our data sheets concerning page ordering for 6-page or 8-page leaflets.
