Climate-neutral printing

The ''climate-neutral printing'' option gives you the choice to offset the exact amount of carbon dioxide emitted during the production of your printed products. By ordering climate-neutral print products you are making a contribution to global climate protection and supporting recognised climate protection projects.

Display "Climate-Neutral Print" on Your Product.

You can, of course, communicate your commitment to environmental protection and CO2 compensation on your print product. As soon as you have successfully completed your order with CO2 compensation, we will provide you with an identification label with an order-related ID number in the "upload print data" tab. You can download this logo as a PDF document and place it on your product before uploading the print data. The label is issued exclusively for your order. By entering the order-related ID you or your customers can check at any time how much greenhouse gas has been generated in the production of your order and which climate protection project you have supported to offset it.

How Does Climate-Neutral Print Work?

1. Calculation of the CO2 emissions from the printed products

The Product Carbon Footprint, the CO2 footprint for printed products, can be calculated on the basis of company- and order-specific data. In the case of printed products, the cradle-to-gate approach is usually employed, taking into account the raw materials used, their transport and the production process itself.

2. Compensation for CO2 emissions

Printed products are climate-neutral if their carbon footprint has been calculated and offset. Emissions are compensated through internationally recognised climate protection projects. These projects contribute to a measurable CO2 reduction and are monitored regularly. As a result, you can offer your customers climate-neutral print products.

3. Product labelling and transparent account of the process

For each climate-neutral print job you will receive a climate-neutral label with a job-specific ID number. The ID number makes the CO2 offsetting process transparent and traceable. Alongside information on the order and the amount of CO2 produced, the website also provides information on the climate protection project supported.

What Is Defined as a Climate Protection Project?

Climate protection projects demonstrably reduce greenhouse gases, for example through reforestation or renewable energies. The exact level of reductions is monitored by independent organisations such as TÜV, SGS, PwC and others. Project operators can finance their projects by selling these certified emission reductions. Only projects that require financial support are recognised as climate protection projects.

Which Climate Protection Project Will You Be Supporting?

You support a combined climate protection project consisting of three sub-projects.

The project "Renewable electricity from hydropower" is located in southern India. There, a small hydropower plant uses the potential of the Kaveri River to generate electricity that is fed into the local grid. By using water as a renewable energy source, the share of fossil fuels in the electricity mix is reduced. This reduces CO2 emissions in the energy sector and has positive ecological effects.

In addition, a project in Laos ensures that families have access to clean and safe drinking water thanks to their own water filter. With the help of the filters, water can be treated and does not have to be boiled over an open fire. This saves CO2 emissions and preserves forest areas.

In Germany, a project for the rewetting of peatlands is being supported. By raising the water level, the peat in the bog is conserved and peat decomposition is reduced or stopped. Rare animals also benefit from this, for example lapwings and corncrakes or spotted crake and moor frog.
